Exceptional transport: the legendary London bus “Mr Stanley” successfully delivered from England.

Some transports stand out for their technical complexity, others for the passion they inspire. This is the case with the “Mr Stanley” project, an authentic London AEC Routemaster double-decker bus built in 1961. After carrying millions of passengers through the streets of London, this symbol of British heritage has been reimagined as an exceptional mobile bar with a hydraulic panoramic terrace by Kozelsky Catering.

To bring this high-end transformation, carried out in the United Kingdom, to life for our clients in Valais, our teams handled the complete transport of the vehicle to Switzerland. A tailor-made exceptional convoy of 1,270 km, carried out without a hitch.

A 1,270 km cross-border route requiring high precision

Loaded in Witney (near Oxford) on 30 April 2026, the convoy reached Saxon on 5 May 2026, one day ahead of the planned schedule. The journey crossed the United Kingdom, took the ferry across the Channel from Dover to Calais, then skirted Lake Geneva along its southern shore to the border at Saint-Gingolph.

To transport this rare 10-tonne piece (9.03 m long, 2.48 m wide and 3.91 m high), our teams deployed an extra-low-loader semi-trailer. Fully loaded, the convoy had impressive overall dimensions:

• Length : 20 metres
• Height: 4.35 metres
• Total weight on the road: 33.1 tonnes

Driven by our driver Jean-Philippe Fontaine, the transport went off with exemplary smoothness.

Comprehensive administrative support

Beyond road transport, international oversize convoys require rigorous administrative management. Our engineering department therefore handled the entire regulatory side: obtaining the special permits (UK, France, Switzerland), customs formalities, and compiling the technical file for the vehicle’s approval and inspection by the Swiss authorities.

Mr Stanley will be showcased at the upcoming Foire du Valais in Martigny, where young and old alike will be able to discover this extraordinary mobile bar.
